Mulbagal: The Mulbagal Taluk Citizens Forum has expressed strong outrage over serious malpractices, including the overdue transfers of employees serving for extended periods in the Mulbagal Taluk office and the misuse of public properties. The forum has submitted a comprehensive research report along with a request letter to the District Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, and Tahsildar, warning of legal action and protests if appropriate measures are not taken.
Illegal Functioning of Officials: Eroding Citizen Trust
According to the report submitted by the Citizens Forum, 27 employees in the Mulbagal Taluk office have been serving in the same position for longer than the tenure stipulated by the Karnataka Government Employees Transfer Policy. For instance, several Village Accountants have served for over 7 to 15 years, one Shirastedar for 16 years, and one Village Accountant for a staggering 23 years in the same location. This is a clear violation of transfer rules designed for administrative efficiency, transparency, and corruption prevention. The forum is concerned that prolonged stays in one place can lead to undue influence and vested interests, paving the way for corruption in public service.
Misuse of Public Properties: Allegations of Crores in Transactions
The Citizens Forum has alleged widespread misuse and illegal transactions involving public government properties in the Taluk, including lakes and Gomala lands. Despite numerous cases being registered regarding these issues, cases against some officials are still pending. The report states that promoting public servants with pending legal cases or allowing them to continue in sensitive positions is a serious violation of rules like the “Sealed Cover Procedure.” The forum warns that such actions could influence investigations and undermine the credibility of the administration.
Prepared for Struggle to Protect Constitutional Values
The concern expressed by the complainants, “disrespecting the Constitution by not adhering to civil conduct as public servants,” is deeply relevant in this situation. Disregarding administrative rules erodes public trust in the democratic system and undermines the fundamental principles of accountability and transparency.
Rohan Kumar K, President of the Mulbagal Taluk Citizens Forum, stated, “If this matter is not taken seriously, if appropriate action is not taken, and if a satisfactory response is not provided to the public, our organization will not hesitate to initiate legal proceedings and conduct constitutional protests until justice is served.”
Receipt of Request Letter
A copy of the request letter submitted by the Mulbagal Taluk Citizens Forum has been received by Deputy Tahsildar Mr. Srikumar at the Mulbagal Taluk office. It remains to be seen what action the district administration will take regarding these serious allegations.
