Bescom Employee’s Misconduct an Affront to the Indian Constitution; Mulbagal Civic Forum President Rohan Gowda Clarifies and Vows Legal Battle

Mulbagal, April 20: The recent misconduct of a Bescom employee is an affront to the very essence of the Indian Constitution, and the Mulbagal Civic Forum will continue its legal fight in this regard, clarified its President, Rohan Gowda.

Addressing the forum members and the citizens, he stated that their organization had officially approved the “Mulbagal Taluk Nagarik Vedike Constitution” a year ago, and its documents are securely with them. Information regarding this constitution was linked on their website (https://mulbagal.org) well in advance and is accessible to the public for review.

Observing that some individuals were misinterpreting the matter, the President clarified that during their expression of outrage and demand for legal action against the misbehaving employee in certain media outlets, they had nowhere insulted the Indian Constitution. Instead, he explained that their statement regarding their civic forum’s constitution protecting citizens like footwear, actively working and wearing out in the process, was twisted to imply disrespect towards the Indian Constitution. He emphasized that this important matter has now been addressed.

Rohan Gowda attributed this unfortunate incident partly to the lack of proper understanding of the Indian Constitution among the people. He announced that their organization is prepared to hold a “Samvidhana Odhu Andholan” (Read the Constitution Campaign) in Mulbagal if necessary, to promote constitutional literacy.

He further mentioned that they have consulted top legal experts in Karnataka regarding initiating legal action against those defaming their organization in this matter. He asserted that those questioning their activities should learn to take legal recourse against wrongdoers. He highlighted their past successful navigation of numerous just challenges to demonstrate that the judiciary resolves all issues.

Similarly, he vowed that they would pursue the public interest case against the official who offended the sentiments of the citizens up to the High Court of Karnataka or even the Supreme Court of India, if needed, to ensure that such misconduct is never repeated. He urged all citizens to maintain their trust in their efforts. He also warned that if proper justice is not served concerning the Indian Constitution through action against the accused Bescom official, Mr. Anjappa, and if the police fail to act for any reason – which would itself be considered misconduct – this will be explicitly mentioned and complained about in the honorable judiciary under Article 226.

Explaining the significance of Article 226 in this context, Rohan Gowda stated that this article empowers every Indian citizen to directly approach the High Court when their fundamental rights are violated or when any public authority fails to perform its duty. In this case, the Bescom employee’s misconduct goes against the spirit of the Constitution, and if the police fail to take appropriate action, the affected citizens and their forum will undoubtedly seek justice by invoking Article 226 in the High Court, he affirmed.
