In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of India has strongly condemned Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah for his derogatory remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, ordering a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the matter. The court’s stern message – that no individual is above the nation’s honor – resonates deeply in light of the ongoing legal battles surrounding Kolar MLA Kothur G Manjunath and his alleged fabrication of a caste certificate.

This stance finds a parallel in the case of Kolar MLA Kothur G Manjunath, also been accused of trivializing the sacrifices of our soldiers by allegedly stating anti-nationalism statements
The Supreme Court’s unequivocal rejection of Minister Shah’s “crocodile tears” apology underscores the judiciary’s firm stance against those who undermine the dignity of the armed forces and public service. “The entire country is proud of our Army, and you made this statement. You should be ashamed,” the court stated, emphasizing the accountability of public figures for their words and actions.
This stance finds a parallel in the case of Kolar MLA Kothur G Manjunath, also been accused of trivializing the sacrifices of our soldiers by allegedly stating anti-nationalism statements and also who stands accused of presenting a false caste certificate and misusing SC/ST reservation benefits during an election in the Mulbagal Taluk constituency. Despite pending directions from the Supreme Court of India and orders from the Karnataka High Court, legal actions against Manjunath have been slow.
The Supreme Court’s recent directive in the Madhya Pradesh case sends a clear message: such behavior will not be tolerated. This principle directly applies to Manjunath’s situation. The misuse of constitutional provisions for personal political gain is as condemnable as denigrating the armed forces.
It is imperative that the administration act swiftly and decisively against Kothur G Manjunath, adhering to the judiciary’s directives. The message must be clear: no one, regardless of their political position, is above the law.
Adding to these concerns, Kothur G Manjunath has also been accused of trivializing the sacrifices of our soldiers by allegedly stating, “Our country has not fought any wars, and merely flying planes is a pretense.” He is also alleged to have said that the government compensating a terrorist in Pakistan is not our concern. Furthermore, he reportedly compared Indian citizens to those of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and China. These statements have been widely condemned as deeply offensive and disrespectful. Any attempt to defend or downplay such actions, as some have allegedly done by citing the BJP MLA’s actions, is a disservice to the nation and its constitution.
The Supreme Court’s firm stance sets a precedent. Just as Minister Shah is being held accountable, so too must Kothur G Manjunath face the full consequences of his alleged actions. This is not merely a matter of legal procedure but a crucial step in upholding the integrity of the nation’s institutions and ensuring that the principles of justice and equality are applied without fear or favor. The nation watches, and expects, nothing less.
